Sue has signed up for this year’s “10-in-10” fell-walking challenge to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis research.
Sue and her husband Ross will join hundreds of walkers tackling 10 Lake District peaks in 10 hours on Saturday 22nd June, over a 16-mile circuit from Newlands to Buttermere and back.
The annual event has raised £420,000 for MS research since 2011, when organiser Yvonne Booth created the event after her husband Duncan, an elite rock climber, was diagnosed with the illness.
“Yvonne and Duncan are truly inspiring. MS is a daily challenge for them, but they have responded by laying down a challenge for the rest of us and raising a huge amount of money in the process.
“Ross and I walk the fells a lot, so we decided to join in. Now we have to get in training!”
There is a “5-in-5” challenge on the day as well as a “10-in-10”, and new this year is an additional “Family 5-in-5” over less demanding terrain in September. Full details are at www.10in10.org.uk.
“It’s great to have Sue and Ross taking part. The challenge gets more popular every year, but there are still places available at all three events so now’s the time to sign up!”
